Golfito, Costa Rica


Golfito is located about 340 kilometers south of San José.

The small port city with about seven thousand inhabitants on the one hand by the Golfo Dulce, on the other by green hills with pristine rain forest trees. 

 

The city offers hotels, restaurants, Internet cafe and in the northern zone in the colonial style houses of the banana company.

Golfito was the main port in the southern Pacific as it is nothing but huge banana plantations there. By diseases from which the bananas were infected and massive strikes by the workers decided to United Fruit Company to abandon the plantations.

To the impoverishment of the region to correct this, a customs-free zone established. 

In addition to the duty-free shopping is Golfito today as a starting point for the tourist highlights of the South to discover.

In the area there are beautiful beaches such as Playa Zancudo, the surfing paradise Pavones and various offers to the deep.

 

Security: Although Golfito rather quiet and feels safe, it is like everywhere in the world, the eyes open and to keep a taxi at night.
